Dogs graduating from this program will fill many roles: from a wonderfully trained family pet, a sophisticated assistance dogs which perform a variety of tasks for their humans, the versatility of training offered is unmatched.

One of the most unique aspects of the program is that it saves dogs, both pure bred and mixed breed, from Miami-Dade Animal Services and other animal rescues.  Each dog is hand selected and temperament tested. This program is the last chance for many of the dogs which have come into our program. The training each dog receives covers a wide range of behaviors. First, the program is an intensive socialization program. The dog learns to be around and greet many different types of people and dogs.  Basic obedience includes: sit, sit-stay, down, down-stay, come when called, basic heeling on lead. Service obedience commands can be catered to the needs of the applicant, but are not limited to any one particular disability. Standard program is 12 weeks minimum.

Magic City Canine is not tax supported. We are supported by donations and the adoption fees we charge for each dog. The standard adoption fee, $250.00, we charge for each dog includes fees we must pay to procure the dog initially, all standard veterinary care, and daily dog maintenance. This is a minimum required fee, however we encourage all applicants to fundraise additionally so that more dogs can be saved, and more people can be helped.

Another unique aspect of the Magic City K9 is that we offer boarding and training to private disabled veterans. Boarding and training lasts a minimum of 12 weeks. We accept most dogs on a first come, first served basis. We have a lengthy waiting list for boarding in training at all times. It is a good idea to call 3 to 4 months in advance and make a reservation.
